Friday Analysis

Formula One
FP1 Results: di Resta 12th (1:29.760), Hulkenberg 14th (1:29.850), Karthikeyan 22nd (1:32.125).
FP2 Results: Hulkenberg 8th (1:27.233), di Resta 11th (1:28.004), Karthikeyan 23rd (1:31.372).

The first thing to mention is: yey, no dogs today! Although this article did make me laugh!

Anyway, back to the on-track action.

Usually after a Friday, things look promising for Sahara Force India, and we expect Saturday to go well. However today, despite a decent Friday, i can't help but feel a little nervy about tomorrow. I'm honestly not entirely sure why i'm having negative feelings ahead of FP3 & qualifying - perhaps it's the pressure of a home race?

Don't get me wrong though, the team got most of the data they needed today (with the exception of Paul di Resta who didn't manage any high-fuel running on the soft tyres due to a puncture in FP2), so they are on target for a good result.

As for Narain Karthikeyan, he had a very positive day. Ahead of Glock & considerably ahead of teammate de la Rosa on pace in FP1. Meanwhile in FP2, it looked like Narain was on for a similar result until he had a hydraulic issue which curtailed his running. Nevertheless, he more than proved he has pace this weekend - with retirements upfront, he could be on for a fantastic result!

Looking forward to what should be exciting FP3 & qualifying sessions. Review quotes here.

World Endurance Championship

FP1 Result: Chandhok 5th (overall & in class) 2nd (in LMP1 trophy) (1:53.669, +1.450 seconds down on session leader.
FP2 Result: Chandhok 5th (overall & in class) 2nd (in LMP1 trophy) (1:53.563, +2.990 seconds down on session leader.

A good solid day for Karun & the JRM Racing team. 5th overall in both sessions today and 2nd in their championship in both sessions (the teams in 1st, 2nd & 3rd overall are manufacturers: Audi & Toyota, therefore not part of the LMP1 trophy).

Like in F1, FP3 & Qualifying are tomorrow. The same result as today would be a good result for the British-based team.
